Bought a 1991 Geo Metro Convertible awhile back for 3 bills ($300.00) Car runs good except it has a low idle when you put it in gear. It is an automatic. My goal is to get this car in shape mechanically (tune up, brakes, etc.) and then fix the cosmetic stuff (top, bodywork, interior) This should be a fun project as this car gets great mileage (998 CC engine) and will be fun to drive when complete. Still waiting to pull this one in the shop but it shouldn't be long. First task on my list is to fix the low idle. Idle air control motor? Don't know yet I will have to do some trouble shooting. I will update once fixed. Check out that duct taped top. (not done
by me)

I went through the troubleshooting guide in the factory service manual and found that the low idle was caused by a clogged PCV valve. Cleaned PCV with carb cleaner and idle is good in park and in gear. Just goes to show you to always with the simple stuff first.

Good to hear , looks like you'll be back up to 12 HP now instead of 11.
