I went to the hardware store yesterday to buy some supplies to build some fish shelters for my pond. The fish shelters are used to protect the smaller fish (baby sunfish and bass) from predators (largemouth bass). If you don’t provide shelter from predators it can cause an imbalance in the fish population of the pond. The project was cheap and simple. Cut up some PVC piping, stack the pipe on a cinder block, and secure the pipe to a cinder block. The assemblies would then be installed in the pond. This project took about an hour and cost about $35.00. I lost the pics of the construction. (memory card failure). I do have the pics of the finished project.

I took the fish shelters up to the pond with the trickster yesterday. I placed the shelters near the existing spawning areas.
